Here's a photo of some
NJT M.O.W. equipment redoing the grade crossing at
Arnold Avenue in Point
Pleasant Beach. This is an interesting story.
The grade crossing was
to be closed for about a week. Orginally, NJT
wanted to do this work
in April, 1997. When local merchants
and politicians heard
of this, they immediately put forth efforts to
postpone this work until
October, when "tourist season" would be over.
Under pressure, NJT
did agree to postpone the work until October.
Ironically, April was
cold and rainy, and the tourists did not come as
expected. However,
October was warm and sunny. I guess NJT got the last
laugh! This is
October 1997.
