Many a spectator crowded the area
around the turntable to see the C&O 614 use it during the October 1998
excursion. |

Susquehanna's
Chinese-built Mikado met the C&O 614 in Port Jervis and was on display
prior to running with the C&O 614 in October 1998. |

The C&O
614 rides the table to meet the Mikado face-to-face. To this
date, this was
the C&O 614's last run, October 1998. |

The C&O

gather. Passengers were allowed to climb into the cab for a view
of it. |

Here are some
of the former PRR cars making up the train during the October 1998 excursion.
The grassy area to the right of the cars was once the wide right of way
and yard of the Erie Railroad. |

A glimpse of
the C&O 614 and its 18-car consist in October 1998. The two locomotives
performed several runbys for spectators. |

This is my favorite shot of the C&O
614. Blue sky with white clouds and a mountain in the background! |

Here both locomotives
pass a signal during the 1998 excursion. The signal control's movement
along CR's Southern Tier line and NJT/MetroNorth trains into Port Jervis. |

A
pair of New Jersey Transit F40PH's were the "shadow escorts" for the C&O
614. NJT and Metro North pool equipment for passenger usage on the
Port Jervis to Hoboken line. After a series of runbys, the F40PH's
get ready for the run back to Hoboken. |

Two
Conrail Dash-8s lead a mixed freight train northbound through Port Jervis
on the Southern Tier Line in October 1998. (The above average number of
people and the red fence are in accordance with the C&O 614, which
ran that day.) |

About thirty
minutes prior to Conrail's arrival, a Susquehanna intermodal train headed
southbound came through Port Jervis. |
