NS GP38-2 5280 leads the consist heading to Freehold,
seen here at the Emerson Street grade crossing in Old Bridge. |
 |
The train creeps along through the center of town
in Jamesburg as Santa waves to all of those who see him. |
 |
CSX GP40-2 4412 was the other engine used for
the Browns Yard Santa Train. |
 |
This year the train again operated with a caboose.
Here is an ex-Conrail bay window caboose behind CSX GP40-2 4412. |
 |
After Jamesburg, I was able to photograph the
train making its way through Englishtown. This is where the former
station used to be. |
 |
Traffic conditions prevented me from being able
to see the train pass through Tenant. So it was off to Freehold to
get in line so my son could see Santa. Here, Santa is standing on
the locomotive waving to everyone awaiting him. The line went from
the station back to the grade crossing for people waiting to see Santa. |
 |
After the train passed through the Broad Street
grade crossing, the train crept along its final stretch under the careful
watch of a supervisor. |

A glimpse of the man in red and the line awaiting
him. |

As the line diminished, this end view of the Conrail

The side of CSX GP40-2 4412, showing how the engine
was decorated and the line of people waiting to see Santa.. |
 |
Here's how the side of NS GP38-2 5280 looked with
the decorations on it. |
 |
A stocking was hung outside the cab of the engine.
Also, it appears the engine spent some time in "South Fork" as it was stenciled
on the side. |

and the crowd gathered around him. |

Here's a close-up cab view of the wreath on NS

 |
The line was almost finished as I snapped this
photo of the consist. |
 |
After Santa saw all the children who were awaiting
him in Freehold, the train made its way to Builders General Supply to rearrange
the consist as well as to allow Santa and the crew to have lunch.
Here, all of the decorations are set on CSX GP40-2 4412 & the train
is ready to go as clouds have moved in. |

well through Monmouth Battlefield State Park. |
 |
In Jamesburg, the train stopped on the trestle
over the mostly frozen Lake Manalapan as the train awaits the Jamesburg
Fire Department. |
 |
In Jamesburg, everyone gets ready to go to the
firehouse. Two fire engines pulled up alongside the train as Santa
watches what is going on. |
 |
The train is about ready to go and Santa will
get a fire engine escort to the firehouse where he will spend time with
the children. |

The train rolls forward and Santa will get a fire
engine escort to the firehouse where he will spend time with the children
who are awaiting him. |

the end of the caboose. |
